swing by bette & court [29 Dec 2009|08:23pm]

toronto

[yourepretty]
okay this one is for the golfers out there...

where in the gta are bette & court articles sold? i seem to have acquired a shirt of theirs by mistake, and would like to try to return it for store credit if possible... it appears to be the sort of item that can be found at golf pro shops, but the name of at least one that carries this stuff would be pretty handy at this point. bonus points if it's in the west end!

alternately, does anyone wanna buy a shirt off of me? it's polyester. yum.

Let's talk about the waterfront! [29 Dec 2009|04:52pm]

I just moved into a rental condo near the waterfront. So far I've discovered... well, not much. There's a Shoppers open til midnight. There's a Sobey's. I walked by a Thai place but I'm not sure if it's any good...

What are the hidden gems along the downtown (Spadina-ish) part of the waterfront? Please tell me :)

Unique stationary/organizational stuff [29 Dec 2009|02:47pm]

toronto

[certifiedsinner]
I went Pier 1 Imports and discovered the brand Knock Knock, which has some great stationary and things like this:

Does anyone know where I can find these where they are *not* overpriced? I like a lot of their stuff, it's pretty unique. Also please don't recommend I just make them, that's not helpful! I already know this. I'm looking to see if I can find these, or similar sort of items (anything on the site really) for lower prices.

Thanks!

WTF: citric acid [29 Dec 2009|03:11pm]

toronto

[cinncinn]
Is there a place in Toronto where i can get citric acid? I need 500gm - 1 kg. I know there are some online stores I can get it from, but I'd prefer brick and mortar store at this point.

Thank you in advance :)

TTC ticket expiration date. Are they serious? [29 Dec 2009|02:59pm]

toronto

[soundofwater]
I found out too late that the TTC's stopgap tickets expire on January 2 in the new year. I just bought some last week and can't use all of them in time.

How seriously are they likely to enforce this deadline? For example, are TTC collectors likely to accept the ticket if I included an extra $0.25 to match the new fare?

If not, I have seven TTC tickets to sell at a discount price.

WTF: Sandals in December [29 Dec 2009|11:28am]

toronto

[dr_laxative]
I'm attempting to do my last shopping for a vacation to a sunny and warm area and need to find sandals. Shopping for sunny time clothes/accessories in December has been kinda difficult so I'm curious if anyone could point me to a store that would sell these types of sandals at a cheap price.

Any store that sell Hawaiian type shirt and swim trunks would be good to. I'm already gonna go check out Kensington market but I'm open to getting other suggestions.

For sale: GPS thing. [27 Dec 2009|10:31pm]

toronto

[mildred_strange]
I bought tickets to the Princess Margaret Lotto, and had the feeling that I'd won something, so I wasn't surprised when I got home a few days after the draw to find and Lotto envelope in my mail box.  Excitedly, I tore it open, wondering what I'd won.  A camera?  A TV?  A CAR?!?

Ha.  No.  I won a Bushnell GPS Backtrack Personal Tracker.  The one thing they were giving away that I had no use for.  Hell, I had to look it up online to figure out what the crap it was.

Ok, Mildred, get to the point- I'd like to sell it, because I cannot get the cash equivalence.  Apparently it's worth $112 before tax, so roughly $130 after.  I figure $100 is a good price, and covers the cost of one of the tickets I bought.

Either comment here or email me at designed.strange@gmail.com.  And cross your fingers that I've got better luck with the cancer society lottary, and the heart and stroke lotto.

I'm selling a barely used IKEA Ektorp sofa bed, as seen here: http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/S39840968

The couch is about 6 years old and was previously kept in a living room that no one really went into. It has been slept on maybe a dozen times.

It has a BLACK cover that is brand new. I just put the new cover on a few weeks ago and I don't even think it has been sat on since then. Again it's taking up space in a room we hardly ever go into and since we only have people sleeping on it once a year, I'd rather sell it and regain some space.

Pick up only! We are in a condo near Queen & Spadina.

It goes for $849 new. If you are interested, please email nanananananananabatman at gmail with an offer.

NOTE: I can post real pictures of it but right now I'm in Ottawa. I'll be home in a couple of days.

For sale: Sennheiser RS136 Wireless Headphones [27 Dec 2009|09:38pm]

toronto

[siobhan63]
Sennheiser RS136 wireless headphones for sale. Purchased about 3 years ago from Futureshop for $255. Futureshop sells the RS126 for $219. They don't seem to carry the RS136 anymore. You can read about them here. Great for gamers.

These headphones are in very good condition. My husband used them regularly and loves them. The only reason he's selling them is because they don't seem to work well if you live in a high rise due to lack of protection from radio interference. They worked perfectly when we lived in Montreal (ground floor condo unit), but he couldn't use them when we moved to Toronto in 2008 - we had an apartment on the 33rd floor. Then we moved into an apartment on the ground floor of a house and they worked perfectly. Now we live on the 8th floor of a building and again, he gets too much interference/static, making them unusable. We love this apartment and don't plan on moving any time soon, so thought we'd try selling them.

Asking $120 but any reasonable offer will be considered. If you have questions, want more info, we'll try to answer.

Photos here, here and here.

My mother has some amazing vintage designer pieces handed down from my grandmother that she would like to sell for a reasonable price. We're talking vintage haute couture, worth thousands of dollars. Does anyone know of a reputable high end vintage store that purchases these sorts of items? Where should my mom take the clothes to give them a good home?

North York Fitness Institute [27 Dec 2009|06:06pm]

toronto

Does anyone go there?
Who likes it?

Is it worth paying for it or should I just go to a regular gym?

The thing that attracts me the most is the pool.

Thanks!

Uptown gyms [27 Dec 2009|04:58pm]

toronto

[minx17]
I'd like to join a fitness centre that is TTC-accessible and isn't too far from Yonge & Lawrence (willing to travel a few subway stops though!)

I'm leery of places like Extreme and Goodlife because of all the contract gimmicks they have. Can anyone recommend a gym? Is there a YMCA in the area?

Thanks!

Laser Hair removal [27 Dec 2009|01:31pm]

toronto

[_missm]
Hi!

I was wondering if anyone could suggest the best place for laser hair removal (for underarms and legs) I've checked the memories and have already looked at Alvi Armani spa, Nulook, Wiesia Spa and Bellair Laser clinic. Bonus points if it's near Yonge and Bloor! I know Merle Norman in the Manulife centre does it but I'm not sure how good chains are.

TIA!
